For devotees, paying homage to the Gurdwaras connected to the Sikh Gurus is a necessary part of their journey.

Gurudwara Guru Ka Mahal is one of Amritsar's well-known gurudwaras and a well-liked tourist destination in Amritsar. The Gurudwara Guru Ka Mahal is a great place to experience the serene and pleasant energy of the Guru.

About Gurudwara Guru Ka Mahal

The fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das Ji, constructed the humble hut that became Gurudwara Guru Ka Mahal in 1573 CE.

#Trivia: It was Sri Guru Ram Das' residence, the one who founded Amritsar. The renowned Sikh gurus were afterwards housed there.

The building, once Guru Ram Das's home, was converted into a Gurudwara. The Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikhs' holy book, is kept in this three-story tabernacle on an elevated platform.

Three levels make up the Mahal's construction. The Gurus used to meditate in the basement, which now serves as a meditation space. There is space for group seating and kirtans on the upper floor. The Guru Granth Sahib is kept on the top floor.

Even though it was relocated quickly, this modest small cottage eventually became known as the Sikh gurus' administrative centre. This tiny home genuinely transformed into a Mahal as it was enlarged and embellished by the succeeding gurus.
